Hugs and Kisses...

This is a progress shot of my little Hugs and Kisses quilt. I made 100 5" 9-patches and they are set on point. I used this bubblegum pink to set the blocks and plan on doing a 2 1/2" stop border then a border of "hugs" blocks. So far I am loving how this scrap quilt is turning out!!

Another shot of the Hugs and Kisses quilt top. I have 4 "kisses" across and 5 "kisses" down. Hope to have this one done soon!! I owe credit to Bumblebeans, inc. for the inspiration for this fun project and hopefully I am adding my own creative touch to it!!

Camping weekend and a little embroidery...

I'm just a tad behind in my projects, but I need to do the summer stitchery before fall and winter. These will be made into pillows!! If you keep posted, you'll get to see the embroidered fall and winter in their respective seasons...

There was a 20% chance of rain this weekend for our camping outing and wouldn't you know it, it rained. Luckily, it didn't rain a ton in the evening and held off until we were safe and sound in the tent with a little protection. Just love rainbows--we caught a picture of this one as we were setting up camp...Only one more camping trip and that will be in September.

American Girl Doll Pajama Party and Sew day...

Here are the dollies, ready for the pajama party...Ruthie in the center back was most excited...I bought her new PJ's due to lacking time to sew her something special...do you love her beaded headband? Princess toppers on my sidebar made these little beaded headbands for my dollies...

We had a menu of tiny pancakes with raspberry freezer jam and the canned whip cream, which by the way was the hit of the party....along with grapes and some juice and deviled eggs...yum!

Good enough to eat....

My mom is making these cute little crocheted hats...aren't they darling?

Check out the flower on this one--adorable!!

Baby Shower and baby quilt

These were the napkins for the baby shower for my niece, Kalie. She is having a little boy very very soon. I think this was be a great inspiration for a cute baby quilt...

I love taking pictures of people taking pictures--too funny.

Kalie opening gifts and reading cards...

I did a stash manicure and pieced this baby quilt top for the shower...I used up a big piece of fabric and then my sister and her daughter tied the quilt using flannel for the backside...

We had everyone present sign the label for the baby quilt. Just love the big signatures of the children present...

Jaybirdquilts Inspiration....

Always just at the crest of summer's ending, I get into the mood for fall--maybe it is because of the heat--or really because it is truly my favorite time of year!! On the blog jaybirdquilts.com, there is a spiderweb hotpad tutorial. Had to make these up to go with the spider dishcloth. First time working with hexagons..I discovered that they are not as intimidating as they look and I really enjoyed this fun easy project!!

Spiders...

When I run across something fun on the internet, sometimes I save it to my documents. Going through them the other day, I found this knitted spider dishcloth pattern. The website I found it on is www.designs-by-emily.com. She has various other dishcloth patterns on the site as well. I thought that I would knit some up for upcoming Halloween to give out as gifts...quick knit and good directions!!

My heart skipped a beat or two....

My sister, Rose, and I got together again on Saturday for a sew day. She showed me Kit's big girl quilt all quilted. She just needs to bind it. I think it is adorable and so girly.

Close up of the quilting...

Rose was also inspired by Janelle Wind's journal cover and made this cutie....

Front view...

She also made these adorable Amy Butler gumdrop pillows for her little kids out of old stash needing to be used up...they love to play with these!!

Matt's gumdrop pillow...

This picture is sideways--pardon my lack of computer skills to turn it properly right side up....love this bird hanger...Rose always makes the cutest things and has them tucked in a corner here and there throughout her house...

She made this adorable rug from a pattern from Sweetwater. Love it as well!!

My heart skipped a beat or two last night....my brother, Jon, dropped by on his motorcycle with something to show me. Now background on Jon...he has so much talent and skill he could literally do anthing he set out to do in this life. He has wanted a Red Baron quilt with the Maltese cross. Because all of his quilting sisters had no idea where to start with this, it never happened. He bought a sewing machine off KSL for $30.00. He went to JoAnns and got some plain red, black and grey fabric. He consulted with many people how to go about creating this quilt and they all suggested that he applique the cross on the quilt. Jon, however, wanted it pieced. He said last night he was no dummy and knew basics like to cut and sew with the grain (as in woodworking, which he is a pro). He knew to take a 1/4" seam and he assembled a queen size quilt that he designed complete with inset curved seams--yes, he did it the hard way. He would not allow me to post the picture of the quilt online as he designed this original and did not want it copied. Just to tell you the quilt is square and is amazing. 1st try at something extemely difficult and he nailed it.
