Winter Wonderland...A Near Finish...

Quilt top is all pieced and awaiting quilting...finally.  I had set several goals to have this quilt done earlier in the year, but just got busy with various other projects...Finally made myself sit down and get it done...
I had lots of reds and whites left over from this quilt.  I decided to try and use up most of the fabric and move on to the next project...I  cut the fabric in 10 1/2" squares and put borders on extra blocks and put this quilt back together.  Even had a piece big enough for binding...yahoo!!  I'm going to applique 2011 on one of the red blocks.  I just need to get that done and then call the quilter....

Winter Wonderland...

I have been embroidering the quilt by Crabapple Hill called Winter Wonderland. Just a darling redwork quilt. Now I'm piecing the border which is comprised of pieced blocks. This block is made 5 times in 3 sizes...What do you think?

Finished--The new perfect...

Whew---finally finished, bound and almost ready for Halloween. I just need to take the lint roller to it...Don't you love how my quilter, Jennifer, quilted a full moon on this block? It just makes it spooky....

This is where the lint roller comes in....she quilted spiderwebs in all the black areas...

She did this great treatment on the 9 patches--love it...

I just love how quilting adds a 3rd dimension to the quilts...I'm thrilled to have this finished!!!

What do you do to relax???

I love to embroider. I discovered this a few years ago. It calms me, and it is so portable. I do most of my embroidery on lunch hours or while traveling. Sometimes I steal a few minutes while at home--there is always 1050 things to do besides embroider, but sometimes I choose to do this. Currently, I am working on Winter Wonderland by Crab Apple Hill. Love their patterns--love them. So far, I have made Over the River, Hocuspocusville and now I'm working on this snowman project. Heaven.

Fun at the Quilt Guild and a sneak peak at a fun project...

This sweet little pillowcase is one of a set that I'm making for a special someone for Christmas. The pattern is by Crab Apple Hill, my new favorite for embroidery. The embroidery goes super fast and looks so pretty. Easy project to stitch up and make!

These pictures of quilts are just a few of the show and share. I arrived late to guild due to an emergency at home and so I didn't get many photos. As usual, the girls did not disappoint and their quilts were all gorgeous!! Loved them all!!!

Progress Update....1st set of borders are on....

I got the embroidered blocks trimmed to size. The method the pattern suggested was wonderful. You cut freezer paper to size and center over the embroidered piece and then trim around the freezer paper. It was slick. I then sewed the borders to the prepared center. They fit perfectly!! Now, I'm supposed to outline the seams of the blocks with the feather stitch. If I can figure out how to do it, that will be next. It then has a 4 inch black border and jumbo ric rac where the center and the embroidered blocks meet.....It's almost done.....YIPEE!! Can I just tell you that I have fallen in love with the Crab Apple Hill patterns!!
