Veterans Day...

When my husband was deployed in 2003 to Iraq, I made this service star quilt. I never hung it in the window or the door as was traditional due to feeling very vulnerable with him being gone and having my family to take care of. When he was deployed again in 2006, I still felt vulnerable. So it still went unhung. To all our men and women in the armed forces who continually watch over our country and serve, I say thank you. To all of the families of military, thank you for supporting your soldier. Thank you for bearing the scars of both mental and physical for our freedom. Freedom comes with a heavy price tag. Thank a veteran today!!

Beautiful quilt. I agree, we owe such a great debt to those who put their lives on the line. i'm very thankful for those who have and those who are serving.

I have wanted to make a star quilt for my two sons serving in the Army (one will deploy next month). I have had all the fabric and desire but my heart sinks everytime I think of starting it, its almost like admitting that its true. I feel so funerable and worried. I asked my son if he could accidentally break his leg so he wouldn't have to go. He replied Mom my unit and my country needs me. Pride worry and Moma's nerves seem like a daily thing, yet pride always seems to take first place when it comes to these boys.
