Chloe Hat...
I just finished this hat and I was so thrilled with how it turned out. It is for a birthday gift--hope she likes it. My daughter is modeling it. Went to the fabric store today after work to pick up a couple batik fat quarters and sat down and sewed this up...
The flower embellishment was made from a tutorial over at terelauritsen.blogspot.com .
The hat pattern came from this fabulous book, Tangled up in Thread by Whimsicals (Terri Degenkolb). I just love this book. It has several projects in it that I cannot wait to make...
The instructions are very clear and easy to follow. She shows a wool version and a cotton version as well...So, make you a Chloe hat for those bad hair days that always seem to happen at the worst possible moment...

Gift Exchange...
Each year in our quilt guild, we have a gift exchange. The exchanges vary from year to year such as a dishtowel decorated with embellishment, a pincushion or a hotpad. It was voted on this year to do a hotpad so this is my gift exchange. Just need to wrap it up and I'm ready to go for December's guild...

Show and Tell...
Don't you just love a pretty flower--at work the other day some Mary Kay representatives were going to businesses giving out roses to women in the workplace...this was mine--love it....
Michelle, a good friend of mine stopped by work and showed me this cutest Halloween quilt that she put together. Michelle is so creative and I loved it. I think my favorite block is the mummy.
This is a cute Christmas quilt she is putting together. Love the letters on it. Gets me all excited for the big day!!

It's in the Bag...
At our last guild meeting, Holly taught us how to make this bag from her original pattern. I traced the pattern, but have yet to make one...however, my sister, Carolyn has made 3 and has a couple more in the process...
She has been mixing and matching prints and colors. The bag has a magnetic snap closure and is easy peasy to make...I'll put that on my must do list. How about making some fabric flowers to doll it up???? Hummmmmm...

Veterans Day...
When my husband was deployed in 2003 to Iraq, I made this service star quilt. I never hung it in the window or the door as was traditional due to feeling very vulnerable with him being gone and having my family to take care of. When he was deployed again in 2006, I still felt vulnerable. So it still went unhung. To all our men and women in the armed forces who continually watch over our country and serve, I say thank you. To all of the families of military, thank you for supporting your soldier. Thank you for bearing the scars of both mental and physical for our freedom. Freedom comes with a heavy price tag. Thank a veteran today!!

Off to the quilter...
Ever since this sweet little quilt appeared on Moda Bake Shop, I have wanted to make it. Jodi at Pleasant-Home designed this and I am so glad I finally made it. I used 1 charm pack of Snippets that was in my stash coupled with some Kona Snow solid. I just finished squaring up these half square trianges...
Assembled and ready to be quilted. Such a fun sew. Because of the sunlight, the colors seem a little faded, however they are bold and beautiful. You can find the free pattern here: www.modabakeshop.com/2009/03/pinwheel-baby-quilt.html
