Christmas Card Holder and 6" Mini Quilt and Stand...

A Nancy Halverson Christmas card holder. Fun fun project and I totally love her fabric this year. The colors are so yummy!!!

Since I love Halloween, I made this little mini quilt (6 inches). This little frame is so fun and it takes minimal effort to make the mini quilt so I guess I'll have to make different ones for the seasons!!!

Fun Day at Gardner Village...

Every year at this time, my family gets together with my mom, sisters and cousins. We meet at Gardner Village and have lunch....we then find our way over to Pine Needles for some lovely quilt shopping.

Isn't this a great Halloween quilt?

The applique on this quilt was so endearing. The paperdolls were just fun. My niece bought a few patterns from this quilt for my sister to work on for her.

This little quilt is so cute for Christmas...
Witches were everywhere...Love this season....

This adorable little girl is my niece. She just turned 4 and got to come with the big girls. My mom made her this adorable little apron and... knitted this gorgeous coat, which is fully lined and has a velvet collar. My mother had started this coat several years ago for other grandchildren, but just recently got it finished and it happened to fit this little sweetheart. My mom does the most beautiful job of knitting and finishing work!!

After a day filled of fun eating and shopping and enjoying each other's company, we were off to Women's Conference. What a great day!!

New quilt for the Store...

I cut this quilt out yesterday on my lunch hour and then sewed it up this morning. This quilt took me way out of my comfort zone as far as fabric choice (the store made the choice to help sell the fabric). The pattern is from the book, Happy Hour by Atkinson Designs and is entitled Snapshot. It is a super easy pattern to make up and Atkinson Designs really have great instructions so this would be appropriate for a beginner. This quilt measures 57" x 75" and took 12 fat quarters and border fabric. What do you think????

Been doing a lot of this and not so much sewing....

My family loves peaches. Last year, I only did one bushel and they gobbled them right up and it was not near enough. This year, being nervous about the whole economy thing, I have been much more diligent about putting away the good stuff... When I get a few minutes, I'd like to make up this Thanksgiving table topper/wall quilt. You know one of our most important holidays gets overlooked between the hype of Halloween and Christmas. It is a shame. Gratitude above anything else is key to a happy life...If you like this pattern, it was designed by a local designer in the SLC area, but you could get the pattern here if you live elsewhere....http://ashbysattic.blogspot.com.

Crazy Quilt Girls Project

A couple of years ago, our local hospital was adding a new wing called the Womens Center. They asked for the local quilters to donate a quilt so that they could hang them in the Womens Center. When we donated the quilts, they had a special luncheon to honor us and had the quilts professionally framed. It was very nice. I failed to get a picture of mine, but a did a cute little butterfly quilt out of 30's and they put it in the Labor and Delivery area. One of the quilts donated was this Alphabet Quilt done in black and white with each letter depicting a thing or object beginning with that letter. A bunch of us wanted to have a quilt like this for our own and my friend Shanna got it organized. THANKS SHANNA!! She took pictures for ideas, figured yardage and then got us some guidelines to follow. It was all put in this darling pizza box all decorated so cute. I'm really excited to participate in this. My assigned letters are O, W and E. I need to make 9 of each block to exchange. I'm thinking of doing an owl and am undecided for W and E. Any suggestions for W and E? Please comment and help me with this dilema.

Another UFO bites the dust...

Last year I put together this little wall hanging for autumn....I decided to do the big stitch in quilting. It is very primitive, however, it is done and now I feel like I can do the big stitch on yet another UFO project for Christmas. It is a primitve nativity embroidery that I put together a few years ago. By the way, the big stitch was actually kind of fun and a tip for those trying to thread the needle with pearl cotton--use a needle threader. It makes it easy peasy!!

Quilt for the store....

I forgot to take a picture of this quilt before I took it to the store. The quilt is called "Splash". It was really fun to make. I revised the pattern. The square blocks were supposed to be appliqued on, but I made it a sew version. The "splash" flowers were all appliqued and that was a little time consuming, but it sure turned out cute!!

Fun at the Quilt Guild and a sneak peak at a fun project...

This sweet little pillowcase is one of a set that I'm making for a special someone for Christmas. The pattern is by Crab Apple Hill, my new favorite for embroidery. The embroidery goes super fast and looks so pretty. Easy project to stitch up and make!

These pictures of quilts are just a few of the show and share. I arrived late to guild due to an emergency at home and so I didn't get many photos. As usual, the girls did not disappoint and their quilts were all gorgeous!! Loved them all!!!

Old Idea...New to ME!!

Yes, today, Material Mary went GREEN!!! I have been collecting these Capri Sun bags this summer to make a new swim bag for my water aerobics. I used a total of 30 bags to construct this little green beauty. Check out the pocket that I placed on the inside to hold keys, swim pass--whatever....
This project was really easy once I got things figured out and took about 1 hour to make. Not bad I say....on the blog of Mormon Chic, they have some general directions should you want to make one for yourselt!

Progress Update....1st set of borders are on....

I got the embroidered blocks trimmed to size. The method the pattern suggested was wonderful. You cut freezer paper to size and center over the embroidered piece and then trim around the freezer paper. It was slick. I then sewed the borders to the prepared center. They fit perfectly!! Now, I'm supposed to outline the seams of the blocks with the feather stitch. If I can figure out how to do it, that will be next. It then has a 4 inch black border and jumbo ric rac where the center and the embroidered blocks meet.....It's almost done.....YIPEE!! Can I just tell you that I have fallen in love with the Crab Apple Hill patterns!!
