My sister and I are making a "kitchen sink" quilt, inspired by Victoria's quilt she made here is a link to see Victoria's quilt... The above blocks are made from 1 1/2" squares. Normally most people throw away fabric that small, but I really like how they shine like jewels... Each month, my sister and I exchange two blocks each and keep two of the same blocks, so we have a total of 4 blocks per month. We also include any orphan blocks we come across. We have been doing this for a few months so far and hopefully we will be able to get it finished sometime in 2012. Has anyone inspired you to make a particular quilt? We have had a lot of fun researching and making our different blocks each month!!!

What a great idea! This sounds like so much fun for you and your sister. I love the way it looks so far...but mt goodness 1.5 inch squares are small! As for inspiration...I still need to get back to my Eloise quilt I started for my mom!!!
I am praying today that Victoria's place will be safe from the storm.
And, your small squares make me think of the Trip Around The World quilts I just posted about today. Such a good idea to do trades in fabrics for those. I love your bright colors.
What a fun work you done with your sister. I impressed to watch the way you created. But I noticed that some of the squares are very small and some of are big.
Who is the lucky sister? I think those squares are amazing. Maybe one day we all can do a switcharoo type of quilt...
Mary... that is a great quilt that you are making. I love it! It is time consuming working with small blocks but so worth it in the end. Can't wait to see more!
