Sampler Quilt

I got a little behind on the Lori Holt Sampler Quilt...but now I am caught up for tomorrow...presenting flying geese...
and chubby chevrons....

Fifty Nifty United States...

Ever since I have seen a map of the United States on Pinterest http://seekatesew.com/scrap-map-tutorial/, I have wanted to make one.  What a fun way to use scraps and make an interesting wall quilt...
A week ago, I was at My Girlfriend's Quilt Shoppe up in the Attic sewing with friends and I started working on this project...I actually was working on two at the same time as one map was for a friend...
I used the spray starch method from Natalia Bonner's blog, Piece N Quilt to prep my states and then used an Elmer's Glue Stick to hold them in place...
For my template for the states, I simply traced them onto freezer paper and ironed them onto the prepared starched scraps...Great project and now to share at the quilt guild in January because I have been asked to show a Pinterest inspired quilt project...What a fun project!!!

Baskets and Trunk Show by Natalia Bonner and Kathleen Whiting...

These are my baskets for Lori Holt's Sampler Quilt from her new book, Quilty Fun...
 Close up of a basket...
Natalia Bonner and Kathleen Whiting from Piece N Quilt went to the quilt store, Suppose in Preston, ID on Saturday...I have followed Natalia's blog for about 5 years and she is one fabulous machine quilter...
She wrote the book, Beginners Guide to Free Motion Quilting and all of these quilts are from that book...
This quilt Orange Slices uses her spray starch applique method....I must give that a try...I had some questions and she answered all of them for me....
 Different colorway of Orange Slices...

My camera died before I actually got a picture of Natalia...
But, the lady on the left with the red top is her mother, Kathleen Whiting...after they showed these quilts, they showed 22 quilts from the book, One Block Modern Quilts which this mother/daughter team designed and wrote....what a fun time I had with this trunk show...
