Block Jack and Apples...

This month for quilt guild block jack, we did the block Birds in the Air 2 and we were to do the blocks in Christmas colors...the winner won enough blocks to make a nice lap quilt...
Lori Holt has designed a Sampler Quilt from her newest book release "Quilty Fun."  It incorporates the elements that she used in the Row Along quilt as well as some new blocks...You can find out more about it HERE...I made my block this morning and it was really fun!!!

Block Jack and Leader Enders....

Quilt Guild started back up in September and we are doing Block Jack this year...
Each month we have an assigned block with assigned colors...the blocks are 9 1/2" unfinished...
The month of September, the block was the Maple Leaf to be done in fall colors...I did not win...maybe sometime this year!!!
I have been trying to do Leaders and Enders while I am working on my other projects...I have decided to do Rick Rack Nines from Bonnie Hunter's Leaders and Enders book.  It calls for 3 1/2 yards background and I have 4 yards of navy...I think navy it is for the background.  I had to lay out a few blocks to test it out...
The more I work with Bonnie Hunter's Leaders and Enders, the more I love it!!!  I am 1/3 of the way done with my blocks for this one!!!

Patchwork Friends Quilt Guild

It was a really fun evening tonight...This is my block jack block I made. The rule was to have the block in 2" increments finished, so my block unfinished measured 8 1/2" and they had to be flower blocks. Alissa won the block jack this month. The flower blocks were all so cute!!

This is a block jack from last year that Lana finished up for her trailer. So cute...

Kathleen made this quilt out of 6 inch block jacks from several years ago...fun, fun!!
Last year we did Sunbonnet Sue for block jack--Jean won 11 blocks so she did this calendar Sunbonnet Sue--so cute and adorable!!!

Show and share--would you believe this beautiful quilt of Carolyn's is cheater cloth?

Alissa has been making this wall hanging commemorating her anniversary this year.

Carrie made this beautiful baby quilt--she quilts most of her own tops and does a fantastic job!!!

Kathleen and her daughters got together and made this darling pillow. They ripped the strips and then overlapped and sewed them down on foundation. Look closely at the little tassels...

Jean made this quilt with Basket BOM done at the local fabric store, Bernina's. The picture does not do this quilt justice...

Desirae is just binding this adorable Swap Meet quilt...So fun!!!

Carolyn got her alphabet quilt back from the quilters. She echoed the letters--love it. Can't wait to get mine quilted...

Carrie made this lovely log cabin for her bedroom. I love the dramatic impact...Till next month....

Happy March, Block Jack and Charm Square Baby Quilt...

March's mini quilt. Keeping with the St. Patrick's theme. As you can well see by now, I love holidays--I'm nuts about them...

Quilt guild is tonight and the block jack this month is 3-D Windmill. Because I won the jackpot a couple of months ago, I have to participate in the block jack for 3 months...these blocks are 6" finished. They sewed together really fast this morning...

Charm pack baby quit. The pattern is called "Charlotte" and it is designed by Me and My Sister Designs. I added the last border to size the quilt up a little bit. The charm pack is a Mary Englebreit collection that was out in 2007. I really had fun putting this together. This is the first time I have sewn "Bow Tie" blocks...

Block Jack

In our quilt guild, each month they do block jack and pick a block. We have the option of whether or not we want to make it. This month, our block jack block is this denim block inspired by the Free Quilt by Country Threads. You take a 6 1/2" denim block and sew 2 1/2" blocks around it. When sewn together, you have all the fun scrappy sashings. This would make a really fun picnic quilt or dorm quilt and is basically "free" because it is recycled denim and scraps. This is the first block jack I have participated in, because if you win the blocks, you have to make all the block jacks from that point on throughout the guild year. All the blocks are put together and they draw a name for the winner. She will basically have a quilt when done if there is good participation.
