SUPER BOWL SUNDAY--I need a project!!!

I really do not enjoy sports on TV of any kind, but my dear husband and dear son LOVE Super Bowl Sunday. The agenda for Sunday: go to church. Come home and make some very fun snacks, and settle down into a fun project so I can basically ignore what is on TV--therefore, this new project. Three of my wonderful water aerobic friends and I are going to begin stitching for our Thanksgiving quilt, Over the River and Through the Woods...It is absolutely gorgeous. My poor quality of pictures do not do it justice. It is done in creams, tans and black prints with embroidery of winter scenes in black embroidery floss. It has simple piecing and is really an heirloom quality quilt when finished. Wish me luck....

Pretty in Pink is now ready for the store...

This was one fun quilt to piece together. The way Heather Mulder Peterson designed the pattern made it sew together really smooth. If making this pattern, read the instructions very carefully on how to press. It goes slick as a whistle when you follow directions. I give this project 5/5 stars. The colors are absolutely gorgeous and the pattern was really fun.

1 UFO down....39 to go....

A couple or so years ago, falling in love with this Valentine collection, I purchased a panel, some yardage and 2 pkgs of charm squares. I attempted to make some heart blocks then put it away. I got it out a couple of weeks ago, and put this together. The only thing I didn't have on hand was the batting. What a relief to accomplish a finished project---whew...

Information on Mini Quilt Stand

I have had a few people ask where to purchase the little mini quilt stand, so here goes...I purchased my mini quilt stand 12" x 14" at a local quilt store, Bernina in Cache Valley, UT. The source for this stand is through Ackfield Wire. If you go to (Nancy Halverson's website) she has a category "links". Click on that and then click on Ackfield Wire. Scroll down on the home page until you see Nancy Halverson's new book, Cider Mill Road. The information is there, you kindof have to search it out. They run $22.00. They do charge quite a bit for shipping, so if you combine orders with friends or order other items, it would be more cost effective. I personally love the frame because it has endless possibilities with mini quilts and embroideries. Maybe your local quilt store would consider carrying this item and that would be even better!!

New Project--Pretty in Pink

It's been a busy weekend with working on UFO's and such. I have 2 new projects for the store to whip up, the first being "Pretty in Pink." This is from the book "Livin' Large" by Anka's Treasures. Got it all cut out tonight. It is sized for a throw. The fabric is absolutely gorgeous. Primarily, it is from Valori Wells line Sole and has a couple of Heather Bailey fabrics tossed in. I'm telling you what--I'm going to love sewing this one up. It makes my heart sing out loud!!

Fun giveaway!!

Head on over to Kim's blog at She is giving away some very cute Valentines and who knows that you might be the winner. She also links you to a great tutorial on little bags just in time for the loving season. Make sure that you mention that I sent you to her blog!!

He loves me..he loves me not....

I bought another wire frame because I really liked my other ones. I wanted to have something I could change out throughout the year with embroidery projects or quilting. This is what I came up with for Valentines Day. My sister, Carolyn, bought the embroidery pattern and generously shared it with me. Then I made a little mini quilt out of it. Fun, fun, fun.

Zippity Doo Dah--It's finished!!!

The quilt top for the store is complete as of 9:30 am this morning--yahoo!! Now I'm going to focus on a few UFO's and a couple of Valentines....
For those of you interested in giving a try to this pattern, it is on point and you are working with 3 1/2" blocks and the honey bun precut strips really speed it along. It finished around 57 1/2" x 68 1/2". I think it is a great size for my table.

Charm Pack Valentine Wallhanging

Last year I made this Valentine wall hanging from a charm pack. What fun it was. The pattern was written specifically for a charm pack and called for the yo-yo makers by Clover. Not only did I learn a new way to make yo-yos, but found that this way was much easier, less time and more fun. I hang it on the doo-dad because it is bright and happy.

One of my favorite Christmas gifts...

One of my dear friends, Alissa, gave me this darling T-shirt for Christmas...Fat quarters are not body parts!! For the quilting handicapped, fat quarters are a piece of fabric that measures 18" x 20". It is cut fat, rather that 9" x 40", thereby giving you more width to work with.

Dutch Treat--my weekend project for the store...

This project calls for a Honey Bun--precut strips like the Jelly Roll, but they are 1 1/2" and with the rail fence blocks and plain blocks on point setting, this quilt should zip up in a hurry. The fabric line is Zippity Zoo Dah--a darling red white and blue fabric line by Moda designed by Sandy Gervais.

You Make My Heart Happy!!!

This is not the best image, however, what a fun little embroidery project this was. The pattern is from BareRoots and fits in a 5' x 7" frame. It warms my heart when I look at it and makes my heart happy as well.

My new Valentine project completed...

For Christmas time, I bought the little frame for countdown to Christmas by Nancy Halverson. I decided to make 3 little mini quilts for each holiday, starting with Valentines. I found a panel from last year's stash, cut out the motifs and then made the little mini quilts. Totally fun project!!

One of the things I wanted to do today on New Year's was make a journal cover for ideas and recording information for my quilting. I got it finished. I am really excited. True to form, I made it completely from my scraps.
